Frank Smith went the distance as the Boston-NL Braves bested the
Philadelphia-AL Athletics 8 to 4 at Columbia Park.

Boston-NL brought 6 runs across the plate in the 6th inning with the help of 6
hits.  The biggest moment was provided by Smith who silenced Columbia Park as
he doubled bringing in two baserunners.  Boston-NL banged out 14 hits on the
afternoon.  

Smith(7-11), allowing 4 runs for the game, picked up the victory. Joe
Lake(9-3) was the losing pitcher.  He allowed a few too many baserunners
giving up 10 hits and 3 walks in 6 innings.
