The Cincinnati Reds nipped the Philadelphia Phillies 5 to 4 at Baker Bowl in a
hard fought contest.

The game started off with Cincinnati taking the lead in the first as they
scored 3 runs on 3 base hits.  Cincinnati rapped out 9 hits for the
afternoon.  

Frank Smith(5-5) was the winner allowing 3 runs in 7 innings. Harry Gaspar was
credited with his 3rd save.  George Chalmers(3-5) was tagged with the loss.

'I always am most impressed when a pitcher finds a way to win even without his
best stuff,' Clark Griffith said after the game.  'Smith did not have command
of his pitches most of the afternoon, but he proved he really knew how to
pitch!'
