Second baseman Larry Doyle cracked 2 homeruns and scored 3 times at Brush
Stadium as the very strong New York Giants beat the Pittsburgh Pirates in 12
innings by the count of 5 to 4.

The score was tied at 4 after nine.  New York came out on top in the 12th
inning.  Doyle drew a walk.  Doyle took his lead and swiped second.  Fred
Snodgrass then reached on an error.  After an out was recorded, Fred Merkle
stepped in and he lined a one-base hit giving New York the victory as 11,797
happy fans celebrated wildly.  New York ended up with 12 hits for the game
while Pittsburgh had 8.  

Doc Crandall(12-3) got credit for the victory, pitching 3 innings and allowing
no runs. Howie Camnitz(13-6) took the loss.  He surrendered 12 hits and 6
walks in 11 and 1/3 innings.
