Bob Feller allowed Gordy Renaud to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete game
at Griffith Stadium where the sizzling Washington Nationals beat the
Cleveland Indians by the score of 5 to 2.

Washington had the game winning rally in the bottom of the 8th inning plating
3 runs on 4 hits.  After two were out Dom Dimaggio started the attack as he
doubled.  Joe Dimaggio followed and he doubled driving in a run.  Johnny Mize
then drew a walk.  Bobby Doerr stepped in and he slapped a single to load the
bases.  Ken Keltner came to the plate and laced a one-base hit with two more
runners crossing home.  Washington had 7 hits for the afternoon.  

The win went to Feller(7-6) who allowed 2 runs in the game. Russ Meyer(4-8)
was the losing pitcher.  Washington won for the 8th straight time.
