Center fielder Jimmy Piersall had 4 hits and scored 3 times as the Kansas City
Athletics defeated the reeling Cleveland Indians in 10 innings 6 to 5 at
Municipal Stadium.

Both teams were tied at 5 runs apiece after nine innings.  Kansas City won the
game in the 10th inning.  Mickey Mantle drew a walk.  Gil Hodges was next and
he tripled making Kansas City victorious to the delight of the the home town
crowd.  Both teams totaled 9 hits on the afternoon.  

The winning pitcher was Larry Jackson(3-9) who allowed no runs in 1 inning.
Sandy Consuegra(2-6) suffered the loss in relief.  He allowed 1 run and 2
hits in 2 innings.
