One run was the difference at Bennett Park as the impressive Detroit Tigers
defeated the Boston-AL Americans in 11 innings 3 to 2.

The score was tied at 2 after nine.  Finally, Detroit prevailed in the 11th
inning.  After an out was recorded, Bunk Congalton hit a single.  One out
later, Joe Yeager stepped in and he ripped a base-hit making Detroit the
victors to the delight of the home town faithful.  Detroit had 10 hits for
the afternoon while Boston-AL had 4.  

The winning pitcher was Red Ames(10-3) who allowed no runs in 1 inning. Joe
McGinnity(2-10) took the loss in relief.  He pitched 1 and 2/3 innings
allowing 2 hits and 1 walk.
