George Stone had 2 base hits and 2 RBI at American League Park as the St.
Louis-AL Browns lost a heartbreaker to Washington Nationals by the score of 8
to 7.

The game was won by Washington when they scored a run in the bottom of the 9th
inning.  Larry Doyle drew a walk.  Fred Clarke followed next and he ripped a
one-base hit.  Heinie Wagner then delivered a single giving Washington the
victory and sending the 3,071 home-town fans home happy.  Washington had 10
hits for the afternoon.  

Smoky Joe Wood(4-3) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 1/3 of an
inning. The loss was charged to Bill Foxen(4-6) in relief.  Wth the win
Washington now has a record of 55-36.  With the loss St. Louis-AL now has a
record of 45-58.
