The Detroit Tigers and the New York-NL Giants locked up in an exciting one-run
game at Bennett Park. The final score was the Detroit Tigers 6, the New
York-NL Giants 5.
Detroit started with a bang, jumping out to an early lead in their half of the
first as they scored 2 runs on 2 base hits. New York-NL had a chance in the
9th but they came up short.
Earl Hamilton(5-9) went 5 and 1/3 innings allowing 4 runs for the victory. Cy
Falkenberg earned the save, his 6th. Jack Powell(4-6) was charged with the
loss. He allowed 9 hits and 2 walks in 5 innings.
Brian Capsello was reflective after the loss, 'We should have won this one, we
just made one too many mistakes. Son-of-a-gun, that added a couple more
white hairs on this noggin of mine.'
