Larry Cheney allowed Frank Chance to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete game
as the Chicago Cubs defeated the awful Boston Braves by the score of 7 to 5
at West Side Park.

Chicago took the lead for good in the bottom of the 7th inning plating one
baserunner on 2 hits. Chicago had 10 hits for the afternoon.

Cheney(16-2) allowed 5 runs on the game. Ed Donnelly(1-6) was the loser. He
got hammered, allowing 10 hits and 6 walks in 7 and 1/3 innings.

'I just wanted to give my team a chance to win.' said Cheney, 'I got burned on
a couple of pitches. But we won the game, and that's all that matters.'
