St. Louis erupted with the game winning runs in the 9th inning scoring 4 runners on 2 hits. The biggest moment was provided by Furillo who quieted the home crowd when he clubbed a two-run home run. For the game St. Louis out-hit New York 12 to 5. Tom Ferrick(2-2) got credit for the victory, pitching 1 and 1/3 innings and allowing no runs. Bubba Harris was credited with his 16th save. Vern Bickford(3-2) suffered the loss in relief. 'I pin this one on my own shoulders,' Bickford said. 'The bottom line is I didn't get the job done. Our fans deserve better than this.'
