Duke Snider lofted one into the 'cheap seats' and had 5 RBI as the St. Louis
Cardinals outscored the Cincinnati Reds in 10 innings 9 to 8.

The score was knotted at 7 after nine innings.  St. Louis won the hard fought
contest in the 10th inning.  Spider Jorgensen led off and keyed the rally
when he delivered a base-hit.  Carl Furillo stepped into the batter's box and
he hit a single.  Dave Philley then laid down a sacrifice bunt.  Al Evans
stepped in and he was walked intentionally to load the bases.  Pee Wee Reese
stepped into the box and hit a deep fly bringing in a run.  Peanuts Lowrey
kept things alive and delivered a one-base hit resulting in an exciting win
for St. Louis and a wild post-game celebration by the home town fans.  St.
Louis had 15 hits for the game and Cincinnati had 11.  

Erv Palica(1-3) was the winner allowing 1 run in 1 inning. Johnny
Schmitz(2-11) was charged with the loss in relief.  He surrendered 2 runs and
3 hits in 2/3 of an inning.
