George Bradley completed the game without help from the bullpen as the St.
Louis Brown Stockings topped the Hartford Dark Blues by a score of 4 to 2 at
Grand Avenue Park.

St. Louis drew first blood jumping out to an early lead in the first inning
scoring 3 runs on 2 base hits. Ned Cuthbert started the inning off right
when he smacked a single. Two outs later Mike McGeary stepped up to the
plate and he reached on an error. Lip Pike then drew a walk. Joe Battin
came up and he reached on an error which brought home a run. Joe Blong
stepped into the box and reached on an error plating another run. Bradley
added to the rally and reached on an error scoring the final run of the
inning. That was all the offense they were to need. Hartford tried
unsuccessfully to come back in the 9th.

The victory went to Bradley(26-8) who went the distance allowing 2 runs. Tommy
Bond(17-12) absorbed the loss. He surrendered only 4 runs and 5 hits in 8
innings.
