Shortstop Dave Brain slammed 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI and Chappie McFarland
tossed a complete game as the St. Louis Cardinals bested the Brooklyn
Superbas 8 to 7 at Robison Field.

Brain provided much of the offense. He lofted a solo-blast 'downtown' in the
6th inning and popped a two-run clout over the fence in the 8th inning.
Brooklyn threatened in the 9th but St. Louis was able to put down the rally.

McFarland(4-8) was the winner allowing 7 runs for the game. Ed Poole(7-12) was
charged with the loss. 'You have to give Brooklyn credit, they fought us
tough to the end' St. Louis' manager said. 'It could have gone either way,
but I'm glad we pulled out the victory.'
