Christy Mathewson went the distance and first baseman George Stovall had 4
hits and 5 RBI at Palace Of The Fans where the Cincinnati Reds beat the
Philadelphia-NL Phillies 13 to 4.

Stovall made sure the Cincinnati fans enjoyed themselves.  He slapped a single
which scored a run in the 2nd inning, hit a one-base hit scoring two
baserunners in the 3rd inning, ripped a base-hit in the 4th inning and banged
out a single bringing in a run in the 6th inning.  Cincinnati had many
opportunities throughout the game and scored in 6 separate innings.

Mathewson(17-9) got the victory, allowing 4 runs for the game. The loss was
charged to George Winter(3-12).  He gave up 8 runs in 2 and 1/3 innings of
work.
