Hal Newhouser blanked Washington allowing just 2 hits at Wrigley Field as the
Chicago-NL Cubs beat the Washington Nationals 3 to 0.

Newhouser(3-3) was tremendous on the mound for Chicago-NL.  He allowed only 2
hits and 1 walk in 9 innings seeing his ERA drop from 4.57 to 3.81.  Neither
team managed to score after the 4th inning.  

Warren Spahn(8-8) was charged with the loss.  'Newhouser took our guys to
school' Gordy Renaud said. 'Too bad he doesn't pitch for us - it would make
my job a whole lot easier!'
