Joe McGinnity carried a no-hitter into the 6th inning and Cy Seymour had 3
base hits and 6 RBI at Robison Field as the New York Giants embarrassed the
St. Louis Cardinals by the lopsided score of 14 to 2.
Seymour was a seemingly constant irritant to the hometown fans as he provided
much of the offense for the visitors. He doubled bringing home two
baserunners in the 5th inning, slapped a base-hit which was good for two runs
in the 8th inning and ripped a single bringing in a run in the 9th inning.
New York rapped out 16 hits for the afternoon.
McGinnity(12-7) lasted until the end allowing 2 runs for the win. The
right-handed McGinnity lost his chance for a no-hitter when Al Burch singled
with one out in the 6th inning. Ed Karger(4-5) suffered the loss. He got
hit hard, allowing 15 hits and 5 walks in 8 and 2/3 innings.
