Chicago-NL came through with the game-winning runs in the bottom of the 9th inning scoring 2 runs utilizing 2 base hits. Bobby Byrne led off and keyed the rally when he lined a one-base hit. Donie Bush followed next and he laid down a sacrifice bunt. One out later, Jack Lelivelt was walked intentionally. Tom Downey was up next and he drew a walk to load the bases. John Hummel came to the plate and slapped a single making Chicago-NL the victors to the delight of the home town faithful. Chicago-NL finished with 12 hits in the victory. The win was credited to Byron Houck(3-5) who went 1 and 1/3 innings allowing no runs. Ad Brennan(2-2) was charged with the loss in relief. He gave up 2 hits and 2 walks in 2/3 of an inning. Lee Palmer was all smiles after the ballgame, 'It sure was looking pretty dim there for a while, but our guys never gave up - and neither did our fans - they kept cheering us on. What a sweet win!'
