First baseman Lee Dressen had 2 base hits and 2 RBI as the dominant St. Louis
Cardinals won a heart-stopping victory over the Boston Braves, 6 to 5.

The deciding run was scored by St. Louis in the bottom of the 9th.  Dressen
delivered a base-hit.  Dressen was safe on a stolen base.  Dan Griner then
laid down a sacrifice bunt.  Miller Huggins came up and he ripped a single
giving St. Louis the victory as 3,266 happy fans celebrated wildly.  St.
Louis finished with 12 hits in the victory.  

The winning pitcher was Griner(4-2) who allowed no runs in 2/3 of an inning.
Dick Crutcher(6-4) was the losing pitcher in relief.  He surrendered 1 run
and 2 hits in 1/3 of an inning.
