First baseman Vic Saier slammed a homerun and had 6 RBI as the Chicago Cubs
beat the New York Giants by a score of 13 to 5.
The home town fans were very appreciative of the fine hitting performance
provided by Saier. He blasted a two-run home run in the 1st inning and
delivered a single which was good for two runs in the 7th inning. Chicago
simply wore out the New York pitching staff, scoring in 6 different innings.
Larry Cheney(13-11) got the win allowing 4 runs in 6 and 1/3 innings. Bert
Humphries was credited with his 3rd save. Al Demaree(5-10) was charged with
the loss. He was knocked around by Chicago, allowing 12 hits and 5 walks in
6 and 1/3 innings.
