separated the combatants at game's end. The New York-AL Yankees won by the
slimmest of margins, 3 to 2.
Both teams were tied at 2 runs apiece after nine innings. New York-AL was
victorious in the 11th inning. After an out was recorded, Mickey Mantle
lined a base-hit. Sid Gordon stepped up next and he doubled. Eddie Robinson
then slapped a single giving New York-AL the win as 50,345 happy fans
joyfully celebrated. New York-AL rapped out 7 hits for the night.
The victory was credited to Satchel Paige(4-3) who went 3 innings, allowing no
runs. Lew Burdette(4-5) was the losing pitcher in relief. He surrendered 1
