Billy Rhines allowed Tom Loftus to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete game
as the Cincinnati Reds topped the Philadelphia Phillies by a score of 6 to 3
at League Park.

Pete Browning enjoyed a big day at the plate.  He tripled bringing in a run in
the 1st inning and cleared the fences for a two-run home run in the 5th
inning.  Cincinnati managed 8 hits in their victory.  

The win went to Rhines(9-12) who allowed 3 runs in the game. The loss was
charged to John Thornton(6-14).  He pitched 8 innings and surrendered 8 hits
and 3 walks.
