First baseman Perry Werden collected 3 extra-base hits and had 4 RBI as the
St. Louis Browns came back to win one over Boston Beaneaters, 12 to
10.

Werden provided the offensive punch.  He doubled in the 3rd inning, tripled
which brought home a run in the 5th inning and tripled with all three runners
coming home in the 8th inning.  St. Louis won despite being out-hit by Boston
11 hits to 8.  

Kid Gleason(13-11) picked up the victory, allowing 10 runs in 8 innings. Ted
Breitenstein recorded his 2nd save.  Kid Nichols(11-10) was the losing
pitcher.  He was knocked around, surrendering 12 runs in 9 innings.  

'I was a little good, a little bad and a little ugly.' said Gleason, 'I was
just giving us a chance to win.'
