Second baseman Frank Laporte hit 2 doubles at Federal Lg Ball Park where the
Newark Peppers beat the Buffalo Blues in 22 innings 8 to 6.
The score was tied at 5 after nine. Newark came out the victor in the 22nd
inning. Harry Moran got things going when he reached on an error. Vin
Campbell stepped up to the plate and he stroked a one-base hit. Campbell
took his lead and swiped second. Jimmy Esmond was up next and he reached on
an error which plated a run. Newark continued their aggressive style with
another stolen base. One out later, Laporte came to bat and hit a deep fly
scoring the final run of the inning. A wild affair, this game saw the lead
change 5 times.
Moran(8-7) went 4 innings allowing no runs for the victory. Howard Ehmke(1-4)
suffered the loss in relief. He was pinned with the loss despite not
allowing an earned run in his 2 and 2/3 innings of work.
Newark now has a record of 37-42. With the loss Buffalo now has a record of
30-52, worst in the league.
