The Philadelphia-AL Athletics and the Philadelphia-NL Phillies locked up in an
exciting one-run game at Shibe Park.  The final score was the Philadelphia-AL
Athletics 3, the Philadelphia-NL Phillies 2.

The game was won by Philadelphia-AL when they scored a run in the top of the
9th inning.  After an out was recorded, Wally Westlake stroked a base-hit.
Luis Aloma followed and he singled.  Williams then stole second base.  Elmer
Valo came up and he was walked intentionally to load the bases.  Eddie Joost
came to the plate and hit a deep fly scoring the run.  Philadelphia-AL had 12
hits for the game and Philadelphia-NL had 5.  

The win went to Aloma(3-1) who allowed no runs in 2 innings. Sam Zoldak earned
the save, his 4th.  Steve Gromek(3-1) was hit with the loss in relief.
