Phenomenal Smith tossed a complete game and Al Myers had 3 base hits and 2 RBI
as the Philadelphia Phillies beat the league door-mat Pittsburg Alleghenys by
a score of 12 to 7.

Philadelphia tallied 5 runs in the 2nd inning when they had 6 base hits.  The
biggest moment was provided by Smith who thrilled the crowd when he doubled
scoring two baserunners.  Philadelphia kept the pressure on throughout the
contest as they scored in 6 different innings.  

Smith(6-4) lasted until the end allowing 7 runs for the win. The loss was
charged to Charlie Heard(0-2).  He was knocked around by Philadelphia,
allowing 13 hits and 6 walks in 7 and 1/3 innings.
