Fred Blanding came through with a solid 9 innings and he had 2 base hits and 3
RBI as the Washington Nationals clobbered the outmatched New York-NL Giants,
14 to 0.

In the 4th inning Washington went on top for good plating an isolated run
utilizing 2 base hits.  Heinie Zimmerman delivered a single.  Larry Doyle
followed and he banged out a single.  One out later, Ed Konetchy then hit a
sacrifice fly scoring the run.  Washington simply wore out the New York-NL
pitching staff, scoring in 6 different innings.  

Blanding(11-12) went the distance for the shutout. Nap Rucker(11-10) was given
the loss.  He gave up 9 runs in 7 and 1/3 innings of work.
