Don Newcombe was able to finish what he started and was credited with a
complete game at Wrigley Field as the Washington Nationals beat the
Chicago-NL Cubs 8 to 3.

Chicago-NL was unable to climb back into it after Washington went ahead for
good in the top of the 2nd inning scoring a single run utilizing 2 base hits.
Hank Majeski laced a base-hit.  Wes Westrum was next and he reached on an
error.  Joe Adcock then grounded into a double play.  Granny Hamner followed
next and he tripled scoring the run.  Washington rapped out 11 hits for the
afternoon.  

Newcombe(8-6) finished the game allowing 3 runs in the victory. Whitey
Ford(0-3) was the loser.  His ERA increased from 3.00 to 3.96 as he allowed 8
runs in 4 innings.
