Robin Roberts came through with a solid 11 innings at Crosley Field as the New
York-AL Yankees beat the Cincinnati Reds in 12 innings by the count of 5 to
4.

Both teams had scored 3 runs after nine full innings.  New York-AL ended up
winning it in the 12th inning.  Mickey Mantle led off and started the rally
when he drew a walk.  After an out was recorded, Sid Gordon came to bat and
drew a walk.  After another out, Ralph Kiner then clubbed a two-run home run.
New York-AL managed 10 hits in their victory.  

Roberts(7-6) went 11 innings allowing 4 runs for the win. Roberts was helped
out by Jim McDonald who recorded his 3rd save.  Paul Minner(5-3) was hit with
the loss in relief.  

With this win, New York-AL has a 46-38 record.  They have been 7-3 lately.
With the loss, the Cincinnati ballclub's record is 39-53.
