Jim Busby had 2 base hits and 2 RBI as the Boston-AL Red Sox rallied
impressively to win in dramatic style over Washington Nationals, 7 to
6.

Boston-AL had the winning rally in the 9th inning plating 3 runs on 2 base
hits. Gus Niarhos led off and got things going when he doubled. After an
out was recorded, Eddie Stanky stepped up to the plate and he was hit by a
pitch. Ted Williams then drew a walk to load the bases. Dave Philley
followed next and he drew a walk knocking in a run. Joe Tipton stepped into
the box and hit a deep fly scoring one more run. Eddie Waitkus extended the
rally and doubled making Boston-AL the victors to the delight of the home
town faithful. This was a game of many highs and lows for the home town
fans, as the lead kept changing - 5 times in all.

Sheldon Jones(3-2) allowed no runs in 2 innings, and picked up the victory.
Carl Erskine(1-4) was the losing pitcher in relief. Boston-AL scored big
getting 4 runs off him in 2 and 1/3 innings.

'Wow, that was fun!', Jones said following the game. 'Once in a while you
play a game that reminds you just why you got into this business to begin
with!'
