Candy Lachance had 4 hits and 5 RBI and Harry Howell completed the game
without help from the bullpen as the Baltimore Orioles crushed the struggling
Cleveland Spiders 18 to 4.

Lachance enjoyed a great day at the plate. Every time he came up in the
latter innings, the crowd was on their feet cheering. He lashed a single in
the 2nd inning, laced a base-knock which plated a run in the 3rd inning,
tripled which brought home a run in the 4th inning and lined a one-base hit
bringing in a run in the 8th inning. Baltimore kept the scorekeepers busy in
the 3rd inning which saw them plate 4 runs on 4 hits and the 5th inning with
5 runs on 4 hits. Baltimore had many opportunities throughout the game and
scored in 6 separate innings.

Howell(4-4) finished the game allowing 4 runs in the victory. The loss was
charged to Frank Bates(2-10). He was touched for 20 hits and 8 walks in 8
innings.

'Some days it just all comes together, and this was one of them' Lachance
said. 'I've been seeing the ball pretty well lately.'
