WEB GEMS- Bot 9th: Roy McMillan robbed Del Ennis of a base hit.

Bob Rush had 2 base hits and 2 RBI and he reeled off a total of 10 strikeouts
at Forbes Field where the Philadelphia-NL Phillies beat the Pittsburgh
Pirates by the score of 5 to 1.

Rush(7-6) was in control of the game from the outset. He didn't give up much,
just 6 hits and no walks in 9 innings improving his ERA from 4.19 to 3.94.
Philadelphia-NL banged out 7 hits on the afternoon.

Early Wynn(2-13) was the loser. He pitched 8 innings allowing 5 hits and 4
walks. Rush was obviously very pleased with his performance in the aftermath
of the game, 'It was just one of those games where everything worked. My arm
felt great, heck, I could have pitched another two or three innings. I only
hope that I can do it again next time out!'
