Ernie Banks went yard and had 4 RBI at Griffith Stadium where the Chicago-NL
Cubs beat the Washington Nationals 9 to 6.

Banks provided the offensive punch.  He smacked a single bringing in a run in
the 2nd inning and rifled a three-run blast in the 5th inning.  Chicago-NL
rapped out 13 hits for the afternoon.  

Whitey Ford(8-6) allowed 5 runs in 7 innings, and picked up the victory. Steve
Ridzik got the save, his 6th.  The loss was charged to Art Houtteman(2-4).
He got hit hard, allowing 12 hits and 4 walks in 5 and 2/3 innings.
