Al Spalding had a complete game and John Peters had 5 hits and 4 RBI as the
Chicago White Stockings beat the Louisville Grays by a score of 14 to 5.

The Chicago fans enjoyed the offense provided by Peters.  He doubled resulting
in a run in the 1st inning, slapped a single in the 3rd inning, slapped a
one-base hit bringing in a run in the 5th inning, ripped a base-knock in the
7th inning and hit a base-hit which plated a run in the 8th inning.  Chicago
kept the scorekeepers busy in the 2nd inning which saw them score 5 runs on 5
hits.  Chicago dominated offensively as they scored in 6 different innings.

Spalding(29-6) was the winner allowing 5 runs for the game. The loss was
charged to Jim Devlin(21-16).  Chicago scored big getting 14 runs off him in
8 innings.
