The Washington Nationals nipped the Cincinnati Reds in 10 innings 9 to 8 at
American League Park in a hard fought contest.

The score was tied at 8 after nine.  Washington ended up winning it in the
10th inning.  Freddy Parent drew a walk.  Bill Coughlin followed and he
tripled resulting in a mighty exciting win for Washington and the 1,724 home
town fans in attendance.  Washington finished with 13 hits in the victory.

Jack Coombs(5-6) got the win allowing 2 runs in 2 innings. Jack Townsend(4-4)
was charged with the loss in relief.  He was knocked around, surrendering 4
runs in 2 innings.
