Harry Lumley had 3 base hits as the Brooklyn Superbas defeated the St. Louis
Cardinals 6 to 1 at Washington Park.

St. Louis was unable to climb back into it after Brooklyn went ahead for good
in the 3rd inning with 2 runs on 2 base hits. Doc Scanlan opened up the
inning nicely when he slapped a base-hit. Whitey Alpermann was next to the
plate, but was promptly struck out. Doc Casey then banged out a single.
Lumley stepped in and he reached on an error plating a run. Emil Batch
stepped into the box and reached on an error. Tim Jordan kept the inning
going and hit a deep fly scoring the final run of the inning. The early run
support proved sufficient for Scanlan(3-6) and Brooklyn. That was all the
run support Scanlan required. Brooklyn managed 12 hits in their victory.

Jesse Whiting was credited with his 2nd save. Harry Wolter(0-4) took the
loss. He got hit hard, allowing 12 hits and 2 walks in 8 innings.

Brooklyn now has a record of 29-52. St. Louis has a record of 29-56, worst in
the league after the loss.
