WEB GEMS- Top 2nd: Bob Ganley robbed Nap Lajoie of a Homerun!

Bob Rhoads had an impressive outing at American League Park where the
Cleveland Naps beat the Washington Nationals by the score of 3 to
0.

Washington was unable to recover after Cleveland went ahead in the 2nd inning
scoring a single run utilizing 2 base hits. After two were out Bill Hinchman
drew a walk. George Perring followed next and he lined a single. Joe
Birmingham then laced a base-knock scoring the run. That was all the offense
they were to need. Cleveland had just 6 hits for the afternoon.

It was the 2nd shutout of the year for Rhoads(9-4). Charlie Smith(6-6) was hit
with the loss. He allowed just 6 hits and 1 walk in 9 innings.

Rhoads was obviously very pleased with his performance in the aftermath of the
game, 'It was just one of those games where everything worked. My arm felt
great, heck, I could have pitched another two or three innings. I only hope
that I can do it again next time out!'
