Chuck Diering went deep and Art Houtteman tossed a complete game as the very
talented Philadelphia-NL Phillies defeated the New York-AL Yankees by a score
of 5 to 3 at Shibe Park.

Philadelphia-NL had 2 runs cross the plate in the bottom of the 5th inning
with the help of 4 hits.  They would hold up as the winning runs.
Philadelphia-NL rapped out 13 hits for the night.  

Houtteman(14-7) lasted until the end allowing 3 runs for the win. Bob
Kuzava(4-7) was the loser.  He gave up 13 hits and 1 walk in 7 innings.

Wth the win Philadelphia-NL now has a record of 62-36.  Robert Baker was
pretty down after the loss.  'We've really been sputtering along lately,
something like 2-8 in the last week or two.  That won't get it done.'
