George Davis collected 2 extra-base hits and Mark Baldwin allowed John Ward to
rest his bullpen, tossing a complete game at Polo Grounds as the New York
Giants won in their last at-bat beating the Boston Beaneaters by the count of
7 to 6.

The game was won by New York when they scored a run in the 9th inning. Davis
ripped a base-hit. Roger Connor followed and he drew a walk. After an out
was recorded, King Kelly then reached on an error. Kelly was safe on a
stolen base. Eddie Burke came up to bat and slapped a single making New York
the victors to the delight of the home town faithful. This was a game of
many highs and lows for the home town fans, as the lead kept changing - 5
times in all.

The winning pitcher was Baldwin(14-8) who allowed 6 runs for the game. Harry
Staley(7-13) was hit with the loss. He was touched for 13 hits and 6 walks
in 8 and 1/3 innings.
