Joe Tinker had 2 base hits and 2 RBI as the seemingly unstoppable Cincinnati
Reds defeated the reeling Philadelphia-AL Athletics by a score of 9 to 4 at
Shibe Park.

Cincinnati scored 7 runs in the decisive top of the 5th inning when they came
up with 7 base hits.  The highlight belonged to Nap Lajoie who deflated the
spirits of the home town crowd when he laced a base-knock plating two runs.
Cincinnati had 12 hits for the afternoon.  

Red Ames(6-5) went 6 and 1/3 innings allowing 4 runs for the win. Joe
Boehling(7-8) was charged with the loss.  He was not very effective,
surrendering 7 runs in 5 innings.
