George Pierce(5-6) was on top of his game in Chicago as he tossed a beauty of
a no-hitter against the Brooklyn Robins. The Chicago Cubs won by a score of
1 to 0.
Pierce provided a brilliant, unforgettable performance for the hometown crowd
at West Side Park day. He walked 3 Brooklyn batters. What a day for the
fans. They were on the edge of their seats from the 7th inning on. With
every out, the electricity in the air mounted. Chicago had only 6 hits for
the game.
Nap Rucker(3-8) suffered the loss. 'You probably have a better chance of
winning the lottery than this happening,' said Pierce, 'I don't expect it to
sink in for awhile,' he said. 'I'm numb right now, I'm overwhelmed.'
