Center fielder Irv Noren collected 3 extra-base hits and Ralph Branca tossed a
complete game as the Washington Nationals defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 7
to 3 at Griffith Stadium.

In the 4th inning Washington scored 5 runs when they came up with 4 base hits.
The critical plate appearance was by Bobby Adams who electrified Griffith
Stadium when he doubled plating two runs.  Both teams ended up with 10 hits
on the afternoon.  

Branca(4-10) was the winner allowing 3 runs for the game. Early Wynn(9-8) took
the loss.  He allowed a few too many baserunners giving up 9 hits and 3 walks
in 5 innings.
