Robin Roberts had 3 base hits and 5 RBI as the Chicago-NL Cubs defeated the
Brooklyn Dodgers by the score of 15 to 8 at Wrigely Field.
Roberts enjoyed a big day at the plate. He doubled emptying the bases in the
3rd inning, smacked a single bringing in a run in the 4th inning and ripped a
one-base hit which scored a run in the 6th inning. Chicago-NL bats were hot
in the 3rd inning when they had 5 runs on 4 hits and the 4th inning with 4
runs on 4 hits. Even though they scored in 5 different innings, Brooklyn was
not able to pull off the win.
The victory went to Roberts(8-7) who went 7 innings, allowing 5 runs. Al
Brazle(1-4) was given the loss in relief. He pitched 1/3 of an inning and
surrendered 2 hits and 1 walk.
