Monte Ward completed the game without help from the bullpen as the Providence
Grays won at Messer St Grounds in dramatic fashion over the Worcester Ruby
Legs, the final score, 7 to 6.

Providence won the game with a run in the 9th inning. After an out was
recorded, Paul Hines lined a single. Hines was running on the next pitch and
he stole second. One out later, Jack Farrell then stroked a one-base hit
giving Providence the win as 1,229 happy fans joyfully celebrated. Even
though they scored in 5 different innings, Worcester was not able to pull off
the win.

The victory was credited to Ward(8-3) who went the distance, allowing 6 runs.
Harry McCormick(1-1) was the loser. He pitched 8 and 2/3 innings giving up 9
hits and 1 walk.

'I was a little good, a little bad and a little ugly.' said Ward, 'I was just
giving us a chance to win.'
