Detroit had 3 runs cross the plate in the 3rd inning when they had 3 base hits. Frank Chance opened up the inning nicely when he was hit by a pitch. Chick Stahl followed and he tripled plating a run. After an out was recorded, Donovan then reached on an error scoring one more run. George Davis stepped in and he reached on an error. One out later, Tommy Leach came up and he drew a walk. Fielder Jones kept the inning going and laced a single scoring the final run of the inning. That early run support was all that Donovan(8-6) required. Detroit managed 11 hits in their victory. Ed Killian(4-10) took the loss. He allowed 11 hits and 6 walks in 8 innings. The Detroit ballclub's record now stands at 42-33. Tim Singer was unhappy with his club's recent performance. 'We can't keep losing games' he said. 'It gets to be embarrassing after a while.'
