Bill Steele had a complete game and center fielder Rebel Oakes had 3 base hits
and 2 RBI as the St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Brooklyn Superbas 8 to 2 at
Robison Field.

St. Louis went ahead for good in the bottom of the 5th inning with 3 runs on 2
hits.  After an out was recorded, Mike Mowrey started the attack as he drew a
walk.  Ed Konetchy stepped into the batter's box and he drew a walk.  One out
later, Arnold Hauser then drew a walk to load the bases.  Oakes followed and
he lined a base-hit knocking home two runners.  Jack Bliss stepped into the
box and smacked a single scoring the final run of the inning.  St. Louis
banged out 10 hits on the afternoon.  

The victory was credited to Steele(3-9) who went the distance, allowing 2
runs. Earl Yingling(4-3) suffered the loss.  He pitched 8 innings giving up
10 hits and 6 walks.
