Danny Murphy had 2 base hits and Eddie Plank reeled off a total of 16
strikeouts at Sportsman's Park as the Philadelphia Athletics beat the St.
Louis Browns by the count of 3 to 0.

Plank(11-5) was simply too much for the St. Louis batters. He didn't allow
much, just 5 hits and no walks in 9 innings. Philadelphia finished with 7
hits in the victory.

Walt Leverenz(4-9) was hit with the loss. He was stingy with the baserunners,
allowing just 5 hits and 1 walk in 8 innings.

George Stovall lamented, 'Plank was really aggressive today. He kept coming
after our hitters. Heck, why not. he kept sitting our guys down one after
another - like so many bowling pins!'
