WEB GEMS- Top 6th: Buddy Rosar blocked the plate, saving a run!

Catcher Andy Seminick lofted one into the 'cheap seats' and had 2 RBI as the
Philadelphia Phillies bested the Washington Nationals 9 to 4 at Griffith
Stadium.

Washington was unable to recover after Philadelphia went ahead in the top of
the 7th inning scoring 2 runners on 1 hit. The key at-bat was by Seminick
who helped quiet the crowd when he cracked a two-run shot. Philadelphia had
19 hits for the game and Washington had 11.

The victory was credited to Walt Masterson(2-10) who went 2 innings, allowing
no runs. Masterson got help from Steve Gromek who earned his 8th save. The
loss was charged to Kirby Higbe(5-6) in relief. By surrending 6 runs in 4
innings his ERA jumped from 3.71 to 4.42.
