They almost ran out of baseballs at Huntington Ave Grnds as Washington
Nationals clobbered the Boston-AL Red Sox pitching staff, scoring 11 runs
while Bob Ewing(6-1), with relief help from Smoky Joe Wood, surrendered 2
runs to Boston-AL.

Washington jumped out to the early lead in the first inning when they tallied
2 runs on 3 hits.  Washington had 19 hits for the afternoon while Boston-AL
had 7.  

Wood earned his 8th save.  The losing pitcher was Frank Corridon(1-4).  He was
unable to control the Washington offense and allowed 14 hits and 2 walks in 6
innings.
