Stan Lopata slammed a homerun as the Chicago-NL Cubs defeated the reeling
Brooklyn Dodgers by a score of 4 to 3 at Wrigely Field.

Chicago-NL took the lead for good in the bottom of the 4th inning plating an
isolated run.  Jackie Robinson doubled.  Duke Snider followed next and he
laid down a sacrifice bunt.  Ernie Banks then hit a deep fly scoring the run.
Brooklyn tried unsuccessfully to come back in the 9th.  

The victory went to Sal Maglie(11-1) who went 7 innings, allowing no runs.
Curt Simmons(1-3) was hit with the loss.  He served up 3 gopher balls in 7
innings.  

Chicago-NL extended their winning streak to 6 games.
