Pat Luby was able to finish what he started and was credited with a complete
game as the Chicago Colts outscored the New York Giants 10 to 8.

Chicago jumped on top of New York in the bottom of the 5th inning plating 2
runs utilizing 3 base hits.  After an out was recorded, Cap Anson opened up
the rally as he lashed a single.  After another out, Howard Earl came to the
plate and reached on an error.  Bob Glenalvin then delivered a single
knocking in a run.  Glenalvin took second on a stolen base.  Luby came up to
bat and lined a one-base hit scoring the final run of the inning.  Chicago
had a total of 13 hits for the game.  

Luby(4-7) lasted until the end allowing 8 runs for the win. Mickey Welch(18-8)
was the losing pitcher.  He was unable to control the Chicago offense and
allowed 13 hits and 2 walks in 8 innings.  

'I was a little good, a little bad and a little ugly.' said Luby, 'I was just
giving us a chance to win.'
